DIY Heart Garland.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and if you love decorating with handmade touches (like I do!), you’re going to adore this simple DIY Paper Heart Garland.

All you need is a stack of paper strips and a stapler to make this cute 3D heart garland. It's a bit like making a giant paper chain but with hearts instead of loops.

It’s also an easy way to add a pop of colour to your home, whether you’re dressing up your fireplace mantel, window, or even a party backdrop!

DIY Paper Garland.

I love paper crafts, especially ones that are this quick and easy. This DIY heart garland is perfect for adding a colourful touch to any space, and you can make it with just a few simple supplies.

This easy DIY project is great for both kids and adults and makes the cutest Valentine’s Day decorations. Younger kids will love helping staple the hearts together - and it’s a great way to spend some time together.

You can use glitter card stock to add some shimmer to your garland. Or mix and match some white, bright red and hot pink card and stack the hearts in contrasting colours.

Easy Valentine's Garland.

One of the best things about this craft is that it’s a fun and budget-friendly way to decorate for Valentine’s Day. You don’t need to buy expensive supplies—just use whatever paper you have on hand!

Leftover scrapbook paper, construction paper, or even wrapping paper scraps can be transformed into a beautiful heart garland. Not only does this save money, but it’s also a great way to repurpose materials you might already have lying around.

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper or Cardstock

  • Pencil & Ruler

  • Scissors

  • Stapler

How To Make A Paper Heart Valentine’s Day Garland.

1. Take your paper or cardstock and it into strips. I cut mine into 1-inch x 8½-inch (2½cm x 21cm) strips.

2. Fold each of the paper strips in half.

Top tip: If you've used a pencil to mark your lines I recommend folding your paper strips with the pencil marks on the outside.

This way when you fold them back to make the hearts the pencil marks will be on the inside of your garland.

3. Take two of the paper strips and nest one inside the other.

I alternated colours for my garland.

4. Staple the bottom (folded) end together.

5. Open out your folded paper.

6. Take the out paper strips and fold them down and back on themselves to make a heart shape.

7. While holding the bottom of the heart shape in place, nest it inside another of the folded paper strips.

8. Staple the bottom of the paper strip to the heart.

9. Keep folding back and adding paper strips to add more hearts to your paper chain garland.

You can make your simple heart garland as long as you want!

10. To finish your garland you can either staple the end of the last heart together or fold back the last paper strip like I did.

Press it flat and staple it closed. You can use this loop to hang your garland.

Is there anything cuter than a string of paper hearts? I already made two more of these garlands ready for Valentine's Day but I think I might have to make a third and this time add in some red glitter card.

What do you think?
