Finger Knitting Ideas.
As I mentioned in my 20 Fantastic Finger Knitting Projects I’m not a big knitter. In fact, I’ve knitted one thing, this knitted mug cosy so I’m always excited to find more things I can make with yarn that don’t involve needles.
If you’ve never made anything with finger knitting before don’t worry, it’s a fairly easy technique that you can pick up quickly. No equipment is needed other than some yarn, a pair of scissors and your hands.
By weaving the yarn between your fingers and then pulling up and slipping off the bottom loops you can begin to knit rows. As the rows form a cord is made that can be used as is like with the DIY skipping rope or can be stitched together to make a stylish headband.
Yarn Projects For Beginners.
I’ve tried to include projects for all levels of crafter. There are some finger knitting patterns that are the perfect yarn project for the beginner (you can learn to finger knit here) like the mini wreath, garland or bracelet. As well as some complicated patterns and time-consuming patterns like the striped blankets and the woven bath mat.
Who needs knitting needles when you can make something as amazing as these projects with only your hands? Not me.
What is finger knitting?
Finger knitting is much quicker and easier than traditional knitting. It’s similar to french knitting in that you’re left with a knitted string or cord but instead of winding the yarn around a spool, you can use two, three or four fingers to make your rope or even a large piece of fabric like a blanket.
